Collect observations
Instead of deciding which work is the best, note what held your attention. Was it a material, a scale or an unexpected relationship between colours? This is a personal writing exercise. It avoids presenting taste as an objective verdict or inventing an artist’s intention.
Keep the context
The Stampede’s Art Show page describes a range of traditional crafts, contemporary art and photography. If you write about a specific exhibition visit, record the edition and use the displayed labels for individual works. A general event page cannot authenticate an uncaptioned image or prove that a work appeared in every year’s show.
Leave an open question
End a notebook entry with something you would like to understand better. You might follow the maker’s own website if one is supplied at the venue. A thoughtful record can preserve a moment of discovery without a ranking, a superlative or a claim about how every visitor felt.
